The choice of usage environment for signage is a key factor in ensuring its long-term effectiveness and safety. Different environments require different materials, processes, and maintenance.

Long-Term Outdoor Use Environment

In long-term outdoor use environments, signage must withstand extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rain and intense sunlight. Stainless steel, due to its corrosion resistance and aging resistance, is the preferred material for high-end signage, such as rooftop logos and corporate logos. Recommended processes include stainless steel painted lettering or edge-mounted illuminated lettering to enhance nighttime visibility. Aluminum alloy is favored for its lightweight, corrosion resistance, and processing flexibility, suitable for outdoor directional signs and building facade signage, although its strength is slightly inferior to stainless steel in extreme environments. Galvanized steel sheet, with its affordability and ability to mimic stainless steel effects, is suitable for projects with limited budgets, but requires regular rust prevention maintenance and is suitable for temporary outdoor billboards or short-term signage.

Outdoor Varying Environments (Waterproof and Sun Protection Required)

In humid environments with high chemical content, such as marine or industrial areas, fiberglass is highly favored due to its high strength, waterproof and sun-resistant properties, making it suitable for scenic area signage, industrial billboards, etc. However, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation may cause it to fade. Aluminum composite panels, with their strong weather resistance, rich colors, and smooth surface, are suitable for commercial complex signage on the exterior walls of high-rise buildings, large outdoor advertisements, etc.

Indoor or Short-Term Use Environments

In indoor or short-term use environments, acrylic is popular due to its high transparency, rich colors, and ease of processing into illuminated signs or three-dimensional shapes, making it suitable for storefronts, indoor light boxes, exhibition displays, etc. However, long-term outdoor use can easily lead to fading. PVC sheets, with their lightweight, low cost, waterproof, and easy-to-cut characteristics, are suitable for short-term promotional display boards, hoarding advertisements, etc., but their high-temperature resistance is poor.
